From Burnout to Balance

Practices for Educator Wellness

As educators, our ability to support children’s well-being depends on how well we nurture our own. When we have the tools we need to cope with stress, we can better support our wellbeing both in and out of the classroom. In this session, participants will identify the causes and impact of burnout; investigate components of authentic self-care to nurture well-being; and, create a plan to incorporate self-care into their own lives as a lived practice.

Calm, Alert & Learning

Supporting Children's Regulation

Regulation is more than just having a basket of fidgets! Regulation happens in relationship - educators and caregivers have a valuable role to play in supporting children’s regulation each day, in the way they interact with children and set up the learning environment. In this session, participants will define regulation and the factors that can influence it; identify how our relationships with children are a necessary part of regulation; and, investigate practices that can help support children’s regulation so they can play and learn.

From Connection to Conversation

Creating Language-Rich Environments

Language is more than just spoken words! Language allows us to connect with others, and communicate not just our wants and needs, but our hopes, our fears, our dreams and our goals.

In this interactive workshop, educators will learn how to create environments that nurture both verbal and non-verbal language development and communication. Through videos, examples, and hands-on activities, educators will leave with at least one practical strategy that they can use in the learning environment.

Engaging the Hard-to-Engage

Neuro-Affirming Strategies for Playful Connections

What do you do when a child does not respond easily to the practices that generally spark connection with children in play, routines, and everyday activities? In this session, participants will reflect on the importance of accepting diverse ways of playing, while expanding children’s play and participation. Participants will have the opportunity to create a plan to start using these strategies with children in
their program.

"We Got This!"

Supporting Problem-Solving In Play and Routines

Working through problems and challenges is a
complex, yet important life skill. When we can
support children’s efforts in problem-solving
in the early years, it supports resilience, critical
thinking, and positive interactions as they get
older. In this workshop, participants will explore
what problem-solving looks like from infancy
to school-age; describe the problem-solving
process to use with children when working
through tough situations; and, investigate
strategies to practice problem-solving skills
and solution-finding in everyday activities and
routines.
